Javier´s tango experience & vision
I was introduced to tango while studying in the University. A neighbour of mine invited me to my first tango lesson. Very soon it became a Friday night habit and part of my life. I had a dancing partner with whom I was sharing lessons and practicas occasionally, but after two years she was becoming a professional and introduce me to María so I would have a new partner for lessons etc.
Short after that we were heading on our first trip to USA and Europe, and that made me decide to dedicate myself full time to what I enjoyed the most.
I took lessons with several teachers but my strongest influence was Gustavo Naveira, so he became my most important source of inspiration.
Being a Tango teacher is much more than a job for me, my goal is to transmit the pleasure of dancing to the students. Technique and steps are just tools to help conquer this feeling.
I have trained for 10 years in martial arts and gymnastics, so I have always enjoyed the physical challenges. Three years ago I started training in Yoga and there I found a great combination of physical and mental training.
I love to interpret the music when dancing and this is intensified via the great connection I enjoy with Maria since the very beginning.
María´s tango experience & vision
My first approach to Tango was in 1996, I was still in high school and I had a friend who was dancing already for some years and becoming a professional. She introduce me to Tango and took me for the first time to the "practicas" and milongas. I fell in love with it and started to learn immediately.
My first teacher back then was Pocho Pizarro, a famous local milonguero, five months later i met Gustavo Naveira at Cochabamba 444, a famous practica, and after that I immerse myself in the Tango Nuevo style assisting Gustavo, Fabián Salas and Chicho Frumboli and went to milongas and practicas every day.
I found an example of beauty and elegance in the dance watching Giselle Anne, Claudia Jacobsen and Lucia mazer (here I also found one of my best friends). I’ve been passionate with music since childhood (studied several years of piano & violin), so I give priority to dancing immersed in the music and using it as an instrument to express the magic feeling of tango and the connection with your partner (I found this connection with Javier since the very beginning). I have trained some years in contemporary dance and Terranea technique, but my main body and mind training was and is Yoga. I graduated as Purna Yoga instructor in 2001 and since 2003 have been training in Swásthya Yôga (a very strong and powerful type of Yoga). In Yoga I have found a path of learning and a way of living and relating with others and with myself. I love to have the opportunity to show how wonderful this ancient technique is, so when I am in Buenos Aires I also teach Yoga seminars and special classes for tangueros and artists, I welcome the opportunity to teach Yoga for dancers also while we are on tour.
